Description:
On this occasion, we are partnering with 7000 Languages, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping communities around the world teach, learn, and sustain their endangered languages. 7000 Languages combines innovative technology tools with a focus on resources to meet the unique circumstances of endangered languages.
We're glad that 7000 Languages reached out to us with the idea of collaborating on the topic of the connection between language and land. Since 1996, Terralingua has been promoting an understanding of the world’s biocultural diversity — the interconnected and interdependent diversity of life in nature, culture, and languages — and appreciation of its vital value for the thriving of all life on earth.
For this event, we're honoured to feature guest speakers:
With Jask̲waan and SX̱EDŦELISIYE, we'll explore the deep connection land and place have with Indigenous languages and language revitalization efforts and hear about a variety of approaches to connecting, or re-connecting, the two.Jask̲waan Amanda Bedard, Haida language learner, educator, and armchair decolonial analyst; @Haida Gwaii Institute SX̱EDŦELISIYE (Renee J. Sampson) W̱SÁNEĆ community member, language revitalizer, teacher, and Mother. @W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council
