L4E is pleased to collaborate with UVM’s Gund Institute for the Environment and the Food Systems Graduate Program to offer a hands-on workshop for Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers on Generative AI (GenAI) in research and academic practice. This in-person session will be led by:

  • Kate Mays, Assistant Professor of Public Communication, Community Development, and Applied Economics, UVM

  • Juniper Lovato, Assistant Professor of Computer Science, UVM


Drawing on their expertise in AI governance and ethics, the speakers will guide participants through GenAI’s capabilities, limitations, and ethical considerations, while sharing practical strategies for using it responsibly to support literature reviews, coding, and research productivity.
