Peter Victor will introduce his continuing research, of nearly two decades, applying Systems Dynamics modeling of national economies to explore the macroeconomics of sustainable prosperity on spaceship Earth.
Dr. Peter Victor is an economist who has worked for 50 years in Canada and abroad on economy and environment issues as an academic, consultant and public servant. By extending input-output analysis, he was the first economist to apply the physical law of the conservation of matter to the empirical analysis of a national economy.
Dr. Victor is Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University and, from 2000 to 2004 was President of the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science, Canada’s oldest science organization. He has chaired Environment Canada’s Science and Technology Advisory Board, was the founding president of the Canadian Society of Ecological Economics, full member of the Club of Rome, member of Advisory Committee on Environmental Statistics for Statistics Canada and served on the Board of the David Suzuki Foundation.
