Professor David Christian will discuss how we can transform our education systems to equip our children and grandchildren as successful guardians of the planet. His revolutionary approach to history covers 4.5 billion years and multiple disciplines – illuminating the complex connections between people and the Earth’s natural processes, while simultaneously teaching students to think critically and embrace science.

By training a historian of Russia and the Soviet Union, David is interested in history at very large scales and across disciplines. He co-founded the Big History Project with Bill Gates, authored the New York Times bestseller Origin Story, and created Coursera’s 5-star Big History course.
